October 22, 2012
Not only does December bring us the warmth and cheer of the holiday season, but it brings the warmth and cheer we experience with the return of Pugachev’s Cobra, Hangar 24′s bourbon barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout.
Barrel Roll No. 03 – 2012 Pugachev’s Cobra will be released in the Tasting Room on Saturday, December 8th at 11 am and will be available on draught (8 oz. pours) and in 750mL bottles ($20 each, limit 6). Limited Southern California distribution of Pugachev’s Cobra will begin on Monday, December 10th.
Pugachev’s itself is pretty special to us, but we’re excited to announce that we’ve decided to spice up the release day even more by introducing our inaugural Barrel Aged Beer Tasting Event.
The following Barrel Aged beers will be available in the Hangar 24 Tasting Room on Saturday, December 8:
2012 Pugachev’s Cobra
2011 Pugachev’s Cobra
2011 Pugachev’s Cobra aged in Rye Barrels
2011 Immelmann aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels
4th Anniversary Dopplesticke Alt aged in Rye Barrels
2011 Winter Warmer aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels
Tickets for the Barrel Aged Beer Tasting Event will be available in the Tasting Room on December 8th – $25 for 6, 4 oz. tastes, and the first 250 participants will receive complimentary, Hangar 24 Barrel Aged Beer taster glasses.
Please note that you do not have to participate in the Barrel Aged Beer Tasting Event to simply purchase Pugachev’s Cobra in bottles or on draught. The Pugachev’s release and the Barrel Aged Tasting Event are two separate events, but we think they go nicely together so we planned them on the same day at the same time!
If barrel aged beers aren’t your thing (gasp!) don’t fret! The Tasting Room will be open as usual on December 8th, so regardless of all the barrels, you’ll still be able to get a pint or package of your favorite Hangar 24 Craft Beer.
We look forward to having you be a part of the 2012 Pugachev’s Cobra release and our very first Barrel Aged Tasting Event… and to many more to come.
Not familiar with Pugachev’s Cobra? Well, get ready for an assault on your senses with this intense Russian Imperial Stout. This rich, black beauty with a thick caramel head is bursting with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark fruits, while flavors of chocolate-covered plum, sweet malt, bourbon, and roasted coffee explode on your pallet. This is no ordinary beer; three different dark roasted malts and rich maple syrup are combined in a truly unique brewing process to create complexity and depth. Once fermented, it’s then aged for eight months in freshly emptied bourbon barrels. This powerful concoction is designed to be enjoyed now with friends or cellared to perfection and savored in the years to come.
